The Acme Power Plant Reclamation Project is a community effort to address environmental and safety concerns at the former Acme Power Plant. The site is a 5 acre island of debris within an otherwise open space along the Tongue River, north of Sheridan, Wyoming. The Tongue River Watershed is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and the Acme site, in particular, is an important piece of the area’s mining history.
Community Involvement

As the project progresses, there will continue to be opportunities for community involvement. First, though, it is necessary to address the contamination and stabilize the site. In the meantime, financial contributions can be made to support reclamation efforts. While a significant portion of the funding is expected to come from state and federal programs, there are associated costs that will not be eligible.

Formed in December 2017 and later expanded, the Acme Working Group provides input to the Sheridan County Conservation District, who owns the site and is coordinating cleanup activities.
