Initial site stabilization activities underway (10/2018)

Through the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Voluntary Remediation Program, contractors have begun removal of some of the most pressing and accessible contamination at the former Acme Power Plant. Among other things, the work includes sampling and removal of over 50 55-gallon drums with unknown contents and removal of approximately 40 cubic yards of loose asbestos containing materials. While not addressing the full extent of contamination, these activities will prevent further contamination of the site and surrounding area. Future assessments are planned to begin in the coming months and will also include a plan for addressing environmental concerns.
